This course covers the training content required under California SB 553, including workplace violence types, risk factors, warning signs, and response actions. However, SB 553 also requires employers to establish, implement, and maintain a written Workplace Violence Prevention Plan specific to their workplace — this course supports the training component but does not replace the written plan itself, which your organization must develop separately.

Is there a federal OSHA standard specific to workplace violence?

No, there is currently no dedicated federal OSHA standard for workplace violence. OSHA addresses it through the General Duty Clause, which requires employers to provide a workplace free from recognized hazards — and increasingly through state-specific laws like California's SB 553. This course covers the general risk factors, warning signs, and prevention practices applicable regardless of your state's specific requirements.
