Our Respiratory Safety training course helps employees understand the importance of respiratory protection and how to select, use, and maintain respirators in compliance with OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.134. An estimated 5 million workers are required to wear respirators across 1.3 million workplaces in the United States. Respirators protect workers from oxygen-deficient environments and harmful dusts, fogs, smokes, mists, gases, vapors, and sprays — hazards that may cause cancer, lung impairment, disease, or death. Compliance with OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard could avert hundreds of deaths and thousands of illnesses annually, and proper fit and use of a respirator is crucial to protecting employees from contaminants or insufficient oxygen. This 30-minute program covers respiratory protection programs, respirator selection, fit testing, medical evaluations, and proper maintenance and care. Available in English and Spanish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this training satisfy OSHA requirements?

Yes. This course covers the training requirements of OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.134 — the Respiratory Protection standard. Please note that OSHA also requires a written respiratory protection program, medical evaluations conducted by a licensed healthcare professional, and annual fit testing for employees required to wear tight-fitting respirators, which must be implemented by your organization beyond this training.

What is fit testing and how often is it required?

Fit testing verifies that a tight-fitting respirator forms an adequate seal on an employee's face. OSHA requires fit testing before initial use of a tight-fitting respirator and at least annually thereafter, as well as whenever there is a change in respirator model, size, or significant facial changes that could affect fit. This course covers the fit testing process and the user seal check employees should perform before each use.

What does "voluntary use" of a respirator mean under OSHA?

Voluntary use applies when an employee chooses to wear a respirator even though it is not required for their job task or exposure level. OSHA still requires employers to provide certain information and, for non-disposable respirators, conduct a basic medical evaluation even in voluntary use situations. This course covers the specific requirements that apply to voluntary respirator use.

Does this subscription automatically renew?

Yes. This is a prepaid subscription that automatically renews at the end of each term at the then-current price unless canceled. You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time through your account portal.

What's the difference between Streaming, MP4, USB, and DVD?

Streaming gives you instant online access from any device — no download required. MP4 is a one-time download you host on your own platform such as an LMS, file server, or SharePoint. USB and DVD are physical media shipped to you, best for classroom training where internet access is limited or unavailable.

If I purchase the USB, can I copy the video to share with others?

No. The video on the USB is encrypted and licensed to only be played from the USB. It must be inserted in your computer for it to play.

What documentation is provided for compliance recordkeeping?

The kit includes a compliance manual, employee quiz and answer key, completion certificates, wallet/ID cards, an attendance log, a training outline, and respiratory safety supplemental documents — everything needed to document that training was completed and maintain OSHA compliance records.

How do I access the Documentation on the DVD?

You will need to access the DVD with a computer so you can browse to the Documentation folder.
