Our Crane Safety: Rigging Safety training course covers the fundamentals of safe rigging for workers who prepare materials and loads for crane lifts in construction and industrial settings. Rigging is the most critical part of crane operations — it involves selecting the right equipment, inspecting hardware, balancing and securing the load, and ensuring the crane and rigging system have adequate capacity for the lift. Improper rigging or rigging equipment failure can result in property damage, serious injuries, and fatalities. This program serves as a solid foundation in safe rigging practices for both riggers and workers in the vicinity of crane lifts. Available in English and Spanish.

  • Crane Safety: Hand Signals Training — covers standardized hand signals used to guide crane load movements, essential for both crane operators and signal persons.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this training satisfy OSHA requirements?

Yes. This course covers rigging safety requirements consistent with OSHA crane standards. Please note that OSHA also requires riggers to be qualified — meaning they are knowledgeable about the rigging equipment and loads involved — and that qualification is determined by the employer based on job-specific requirements beyond this classroom training.

What is the difference between a rigger and a signal person?

A rigger is responsible for attaching, detaching, and securing loads to the crane for lifting. A signal person directs the crane operator's movements using standardized hand signals during the lift. These are separate roles with separate training requirements — both are covered in our full crane safety course series.

Do workers who are not riggers also need this training?

Yes. Workers who are in the vicinity of crane rigging operations benefit from understanding rigging hazards, load paths, and safe distances even if they are not directly rigging the load themselves. OSHA requires that workers near crane operations be aware of the associated hazards.

Does this subscription automatically renew?

Yes. This is a prepaid subscription that automatically renews at the end of each term at the then-current price unless canceled. You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time through your account portal.

What's the difference between Streaming, MP4, USB, and DVD?

Streaming gives you instant online access from any device — no download required. MP4 is a one-time download you host on your own platform such as an LMS, file server, or SharePoint. USB and DVD are physical media shipped to you, best for classroom training where internet access is limited or unavailable.

If I purchase the USB, can I copy the video to share with others?

No. The video on the USB is encrypted and licensed to only be played from the USB. It must be inserted in your computer for it to play.

What documentation is provided for compliance recordkeeping?

The kit includes a compliance manual, employee quiz and answer key, completion certificates, wallet/ID cards, an attendance log, a training outline, and crane safety supplemental printouts — everything needed to document that training was completed and maintain OSHA compliance records.

How do I access the Documentation on the DVD?

You will need to access the DVD with a computer so you can browse to the Documentation folder.
