Our Bloodborne Pathogens for Healthcare training course helps healthcare workers understand the risks of bloodborne pathogen (BBP) exposure and how to limit infection in compliance with OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030. Workers in the healthcare industry face a higher risk of contact with bloodborne pathogens than almost any other industry. These pathogenic microorganisms — present in human blood and other infectious materials — can enter the body through skin, eyes, mucous membranes, or open wounds, potentially causing serious and life-threatening illness. This program covers exposure prevention, personal protective equipment, exposure control plans, and proper response procedures, using healthcare-specific scenarios and settings. Available in English and Spanish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this training satisfy OSHA requirements?

Yes. This course covers the training requirements of OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.1030 — the Bloodborne Pathogens standard. Please note that OSHA also requires a written Exposure Control Plan specific to your workplace, which must be developed separately by your organization and updated annually. We provide a basic Exposure Control Plan within the documentation included with this training program.

What is the difference between this course and the general industry Bloodborne Pathogens course?

Both courses cover the same OSHA 29 CFR 1910.1030 standard content, but this healthcare version uses clinical scenarios, healthcare-specific settings, and examples relevant to patient care environments. It is designed specifically for healthcare workers such as nurses, doctors, home health aides, and medical assistants. The general industry version is better suited for manufacturing, warehousing, janitorial, and other non-healthcare environments.

How often is bloodborne pathogens training required?

OSHA requires initial training at the time of employment and annual refresher training thereafter for all employees with occupational exposure. Training must also be provided whenever new tasks or procedures affect the employee's occupational exposure.

Does this subscription automatically renew?

Yes. This is a prepaid subscription that automatically renews at the end of each term at the then-current price unless canceled. You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time through your account portal.

What's the difference between Streaming, MP4, USB, and DVD?

Streaming gives you instant online access from any device — no download required. MP4 is a one-time download you host on your own platform such as an LMS, file server, or SharePoint. USB and DVD are physical media shipped to you, best for classroom training where internet access is limited or unavailable.

If I purchase the USB, can I copy the video to share with others?

No. The video on the USB is encrypted and licensed to only be played from the USB. It must be inserted in your computer for it to play.

What documentation is provided for compliance recordkeeping?

The kit includes a compliance manual, employee quiz and answer key, completion certificates, wallet/ID cards, an attendance log, a training outline, and bloodborne pathogens supplemental printouts — everything needed to document training and maintain OSHA compliance records.

How do I access the Documentation on the DVD?

You will need to access the DVD with a computer so you can browse to the Documentation folder.
