Our Scaffold Safety training course helps workers understand scaffold hazards and safe practices in compliance with OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L. Over 2 million workers frequently use scaffolding in construction, and scaffold-related accidents cause an estimated 4,500 or more injuries and over 60 deaths each year. Two distinct groups of workers are associated with scaffolds — those who erect and dismantle them, and those who use them for work — and OSHA requires specific training for each, along with a competent person and, in some cases, a qualified person. Hazards include falls from elevation, scaffold collapse, and electrocution. This program gives your workers a solid understanding of scaffold hazards and safe practices to protect themselves and those working nearby. Available in English and Spanish.

Commonly paired with this course for a complete working-at-height safety program:

  • Fall Protection Training — falls from elevation are one of the leading hazards associated with scaffold work. This dedicated course covers OSHA 29 CFR 1910 Subpart D and 1926 Subpart M in full detail.
  • Ladder Safety Training — many scaffold-adjacent tasks also involve ladder access. This course covers proper ladder inspection and safe-use practices.
  • Aerial & Scissor Lifts (MEWP) Safe Use Training — covers ANSI 92.22 safe use requirements for mobile elevated work platforms, a common alternative to scaffolds on the same job sites.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this training satisfy OSHA requirements?

Yes. This course covers the training content of OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1926 Subpart L for scaffold safety. Please note that OSHA also requires a competent person to be designated for scaffold erection, movement, and dismantling, and in some cases a qualified person as well — those designations are determined by your employer based on training, knowledge, and experience beyond this classroom course.

What's the difference between a competent person and a qualified person?

A competent person can identify existing and predictable scaffold hazards and has the authority to take corrective action. A qualified person has the knowledge, training, or experience to solve or resolve problems related to the specific scaffold work being performed. Some scaffold activities require one, some require both — this course explains where each designation applies.

Do all workers near a scaffold need this training, or just those erecting it?

Both groups need training, but the content differs. OSHA distinguishes between workers who erect, move, or dismantle scaffolds and workers who simply use a scaffold to perform their job. This course provides a solid foundation for both groups, covering the shared hazards and safe practices that apply regardless of role.

Is fall protection required on all scaffolds?

In most cases, yes — OSHA requires fall protection for workers on scaffolds more than 10 feet above a lower level, typically through guardrails or a personal fall arrest system. This course explains those requirements, but a dedicated Fall Protection course goes much deeper into fall arrest systems and equipment.

Does this subscription automatically renew?

Yes. This is a prepaid subscription that automatically renews at the end of each term at the then-current price unless canceled. You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time through your account portal.

What's the difference between Streaming, MP4, USB, and DVD?

Streaming gives you instant online access from any device — no download required. MP4 is a one-time download you host on your own platform such as an LMS, file server, or SharePoint. USB and DVD are physical media shipped to you, best for classroom training where internet access is limited or unavailable.

If I purchase the USB, can I copy the video to share with others?

No. The video on the USB is encrypted and licensed to only be played from the USB. It must be inserted in your computer for it to play.

What documentation is provided for compliance recordkeeping?

The kit includes a compliance manual, employee quiz and answer key, completion certificates, wallet/ID cards, an attendance log, a training outline, and scaffolding safety supplemental documents — everything needed to document that training was completed.
