Our Hearing Conservation training course helps employees understand the risks of occupational noise exposure and how to protect their hearing in compliance with OSHA Standards 29 CFR 1910.95 (general industry) and 1926.52 and .101 (construction). The CDC estimates that 22 million workers are exposed to potentially damaging noise levels at work each year. Whether you work at a sports venue, on an airport tarmac, or operate a jackhammer or saw, noise-induced hearing loss is entirely preventable. Warning signs include ringing or humming in the ears after leaving work, difficulty hearing a coworker an arm's length away, or temporary hearing loss after a shift. This 26-minute program covers how the ear works, types and effects of hearing loss, evaluating noise exposure levels, and what an effective hearing conservation program looks like. Available in English and Spanish.

Who Should Take This Course?
New and seasoned employees during orientation or refresher training, as well as environmental health and safety managers, manufacturing managers and supervisors, construction managers, and anyone who works in or manages employees in a noisy environment. Also suitable for train-the-trainer use.

Commonly paired with this course for a complete workplace safety program:

  • Personal Protective Equipment Training — covers proper selection and use of PPE including hearing protection devices such as earplugs and earmuffs essential for workers in high-noise environments.
  • Eye Safety Training — covers eye hazard recognition and PPE selection; many high-noise industrial and construction tasks also present simultaneous eye hazards from debris and particulates.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this training satisfy OSHA requirements?

Yes. This course covers the training requirements of OSHA Standards 29 CFR 1910.95 (general industry) and 1926.52 and .101 (construction). OSHA requires employers to implement a hearing conservation program when employee noise exposure equals or exceeds an 8-hour time-weighted average of 85 decibels. Please note that a full hearing conservation program also requires noise monitoring and annual audiometric testing, which must be conducted separately by your organization.

At what noise level does OSHA require hearing protection?

OSHA's Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) for noise is 90 decibels averaged over an 8-hour workday. The Action Level that triggers a hearing conservation program is 85 decibels averaged over 8 hours. As noise levels increase, the permitted exposure duration decreases significantly — for example, exposure to 100 decibels is limited to 2 hours per day without protection. This course covers how to evaluate noise exposure levels and determine when hearing protection is required.

Does this subscription automatically renew?

Yes. This is a prepaid subscription that automatically renews at the end of each term at the then-current price unless canceled. You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time through your account portal.

What's the difference between Streaming, MP4, USB, and DVD?

Streaming gives you instant online access from any device — no download required. MP4 is a one-time download you host on your own platform such as an LMS, file server, or SharePoint. USB and DVD are physical media shipped to you, best for classroom training where internet access is limited or unavailable.

If I purchase the USB, can I copy the video to share with others?

No. The video on the USB is encrypted and licensed to only be played from the USB. It must be inserted in your computer for it to play.

What documentation is provided for compliance recordkeeping?

The kit includes a compliance manual, employee quiz and answer key, completion certificates, wallet/ID cards, an attendance log, a training outline, and hearing conservation supplemental printouts — everything needed to document that training was completed and maintain OSHA compliance records.

How do I access the Documentation on the DVD?

You will need to access the DVD with a computer so you can browse to the Documentation folder.
