Our HazCom: Safety Data Sheets training course provides focused, in-depth instruction on reading and using Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in compliance with OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200. Thousands of chemicals are used in personal and workplace settings, and most employees encounter chemicals at work on a daily basis. While many chemicals are relatively harmless when handled properly, others present serious physical or health hazards — sometimes from something as simple as pouring a chemical from one container to another. Without accurate knowledge about a chemical's hazards and appropriate precautionary measures, employees face a real risk of harmful or even fatal accidents. This 15-minute program covers all 16 sections of a Safety Data Sheet so employees can find and apply the information they need to work safely with hazardous chemicals. Available in English and Spanish.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does this training satisfy OSHA requirements?

Yes. This course covers the Safety Data Sheets training requirements of OSHA Standard 29 CFR 1910.1200 — the Hazard Communication standard. Please note that a complete HAZCOM training program also requires coverage of chemical labels and your organization's written Hazard Communication Program — both of which are covered in our companion courses.

What is the difference between this course and the full Hazard Communication course?

This course is a focused, deep dive into one specific element of HAZCOM — Safety Data Sheets — covering all 16 required sections in detail. The full Hazard Communication course covers the entire HAZCOM standard at a broader level, including chemical labels, hazard classification, and PPE. Organizations that want a quick, targeted refresher specifically on SDS use often use this course on its own or alongside the full course.

What are the 16 sections of a Safety Data Sheet?

The 16 standardized SDS sections are: Identification; Hazard(s) Identification; Composition/Information on Ingredients; First-Aid Measures; Fire-Fighting Measures; Accidental Release Measures; Handling and Storage; Exposure Controls/Personal Protection; Physical and Chemical Properties; Stability and Reactivity; Toxicological Information; Ecological Information; Disposal Considerations; Transport Information; Regulatory Information; and Other Information. This course walks through each section and explains what employees need to know from it.

Does this subscription automatically renew?

Yes. This is a prepaid subscription that automatically renews at the end of each term at the then-current price unless canceled. You can view, manage, or cancel your subscription at any time through your account portal.

What's the difference between Streaming, MP4, USB, and DVD?

Streaming gives you instant online access from any device — no download required. MP4 is a one-time download you host on your own platform such as an LMS, file server, or SharePoint. USB and DVD are physical media shipped to you, best for classroom training where internet access is limited or unavailable.

If I purchase the USB, can I copy the video to share with others?

No. The video on the USB is encrypted and licensed to only be played from the USB. It must be inserted in your computer for it to play.

What documentation is provided for compliance recordkeeping?

The kit includes a compliance manual, employee quiz and answer key, completion certificates, wallet/ID cards, an attendance log, a training outline, and HazCom Safety Data Sheets supplemental printouts — everything needed to document that training was completed and maintain OSHA compliance records.

How do I access the Documentation on the DVD?

You will need to access the DVD with a computer so you can browse to the Documentation folder.
