Who needs Bloodborne Pathogens training?

Any employee with reasonably anticipated occupational exposure to blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM). This includes healthcare workers, first responders, custodial staff, maintenance personnel, designated first-aid providers, and anyone whose duties may involve contact with blood or body fluids.

How often do employees need retraining?

OSHA 1910.1030 requires initial training at the time of assignment and at least annually thereafter. Additional training is required whenever new or modified tasks affect occupational exposure.
