What is the Safety Stand-Down?
The National Safety Stand-Down is a voluntary event where employers across the country stop work for a moment and talk directly with their crews about fall hazards. Construction companies, subcontractors, and safety professionals all participate -- from one-person crews to nationwide contractors.
Falls remain the leading cause of death in construction. The Stand-Down is a chance to inspect equipment, retrain on harnesses and ladders, review jobsite procedures, and make sure every worker goes home at the end of the day.

How to Host Your Stand-Down
Any size crew, any size jobsite. Here are three ways to put the week to work.
1. Train
Cover ladder safety, scaffold use, harness inspection, and anchor points. NSC offers training resources delivered in several formats. Stand-Down Training Topics
2. Inspect
Pull every harness, lanyard, anchor, ladder, and scaffold component out for a hands-on inspection. Replace anything frayed, deformed, or past its service life.
3. Equip
Make sure every worker on every elevation has the right gear, properly fitted.
