According to OSHA, slip, trip and fall incidents are among the leading causes of serious work-related injuries and deaths. OSHA estimates, on average, 200,000 plus serious injuries and hundreds of fatalities occur annually among workers due to slips, trips and falls.Slip, trip and fall hazards are present in most workplaces and many workers are exposed to these hazards on a daily basis. Any walking or work surface could potentially be a fall hazard if you lose your balance or bodily support. Falls and falling objects can result from unstable working surfaces, ladders that are not safely positioned, and misuse of fall protection. Workers are also subject to falls or to the dangers of falling objects if sides and edges, floor holes, and wall openings are not protected.Fall protection must be provided for each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge at the height required by the OSHA standard applicable to their work environment. This training will also cover other major types of fall hazards and how to prevent them.
