It is estimated that over 2 million workers frequently use scaffolding in the construction field. Statistics show that the number of injuries from scaffold related accidents is an astounding 4,500 or more a year and deaths that occur from such accidents average more than 60 per year.
Two groups of workers are associated with scaffolds: those that erect and/or dismantle the scaffold and those that use the scaffold for work purposes. Each group has specific training requirements determined by OSHA. The need for a competent person and a qualified person is necessary when dealing with scaffolds.
Hazards associated with scaffolds include such things as falls from elevations, collapse of the scaffold, electrocution and other dangers. The purpose of this scaffold training is to provide your workers with a solid understanding of scaffolds hazards and safe practices to protect themselves and workers in the vicinity.
