In August of 1996, Congress enacted the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, also known as HIPAA.
The primary purposes of HIPAA are (1) to protect people from losing their health insurance if they change jobs or have pre-existing health conditions, (2) to reduce the costs and administrative burdens of healthcare by creating standard electronic formats for many administrative transactions that are currently carried out on paper, and (3) to develop standards and requirements to protect the privacy and security of personal health information. It is these privacy and security standards that this program will discuss in more detail. This poster features the HIPAA policies and regulations in writing.
This full color, laminated, safety poster is 18″ x 24″ with English or Spanish options available.
