A tagout only warns against operating it. OSHA permits tagout-only where a device is not capable of being locked out, but the employer must then demonstrate full employee protection and provide \u003cstrong\u003eadditional training on the limitations of tags\u003c\/strong\u003e — a tag is a warning, not a restraint.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\n\u003ch3\u003eCan I remove someone else's lock?\u003c\/h3\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOnly under a specific procedure. The standard permits lock removal by someone other than the person who applied it when that person is unavailable, but it requires verification that the person is not at the facility, all reasonable efforts to contact them, and notification before they resume work.
